The straight ankle lock taken from the truck. The attacker is behind and beneath, the leg is hooked, and the foot is laced from an angle that has nothing in common with the ashi version.

It is the least-used of the truck’s finishes and the least-used of the ankle locks, which is why it needs saying that it exists at all: a defender who straightens the hooked leg to escape the calf slicer has offered the ankle as well as the knee.

Read the name carefully. “Truck ankle lock” has been used loosely as a label for the tren lock, which is a different technique on a different line — an outside-ashi attack, not a ride-line one. This page is the ankle lock proper, taken from the truck.

Elevated RiskTruck Ankle Lock is an elevated risk technique. Achilles and ankle compression, delivered from beneath while the defender is face-down. As with the truck kneebar, the hazard is that the defender cannot see the attack rather than that it arrives quickly. Serious injury can occur Long by leg-lock standards. The ankle lock is forgiving and the truck costs the attacker effort to hold, so this is the slowest clock in the family..

If you are new to this technique: read this section before anything else. Understanding the danger is part of understanding the technique.

The person applying the technique is responsible for releasing immediately.
