Reverse X — Defending

Defending reverse X in no-gi — a waypoint that platforms nothing. The danger is where it leads, the exits are cheap right now, and that is exactly why you should take one.

Reverse X from the defending side. The attacker has an X configuration with the legs reversed relative to the standard shape, controlling your leg from underneath.

This position platforms nothing directly — it is a waypoint. The danger is where it leads rather than what it does, which makes it the least immediately threatening entanglement on this list and one of the easier ones to underestimate.

A defender here has time. What they usually lack is the recognition that the time is finite.

Elevated RiskReverse X (Defending) is an elevated risk technique. No submission is catalogued from this position. The risk is downstream: reverse X feeds inside and outside entanglements that do carry finishes, so the injury mechanism belongs to wherever it delivers you. Serious injury can occur Medium, which for this family is generous. It is the transition that shortens it..

If you are new to this technique: read this section before anything else. Understanding the danger is part of understanding the technique.

The person applying the technique is responsible for releasing immediately.
