Backside 50/50 — Defending
Defending backside 50/50 in no-gi — a dual-line position where both heels are live. Hide both, deny the back of the entanglement, and stop reading it as ordinary 50/50.

Backside 50/50 from the defending side. The attacker has rotated behind the shared entanglement, and from there both of your heels are reachable depending on which leg they commit to.
This is the position that makes the dual-line idea real: it platforms the inside heel hook and the outside heel hook at once. A defender protecting the leg they can feel is protecting one of two.
It reads like ordinary 50/50 and is not. In 50/50 the options are symmetrical; here the attacker has taken the back of the entanglement and you have not.
Elevated RiskBackside 50/50 (Defending) is an elevated risk technique. Either heel hook is available, so the knee can be rotated in either direction and the defender cannot predict which. Loading arrives without preparatory movement because the attacker does not need to reposition to switch targets. Serious injury can occur Very short once a heel is reached, and the ambiguity shortens it further — defenders spend the window deciding which attack is coming..
