Armbar System — Full Expression

Mat mode

TOP PLAYER

POSITION

Inside closed guard. The armbar-system player is on the bottom and may pre-establish a collar tie or wrist grip.

OBJECTIVE

Prevent armbar-system outcomes while working your own game. No restrictions: pass, take the back, or counter-submit.

CONSTRAINTS

Elevated safety. Multiple elevated-tier submissions are in scope. Apply at communication pace. Confirm tap-release reliability before running it. Reset when any win condition is achieved or when either player taps. After each scored event, the scoring player takes the armbar-system role from closed-guard bottom. Play until each player has accumulated five scores. Default rounds 5:00.

WIN CONDITION

Pass guard to a dominant position, take back control, or force the tap by any means outside the armbar system.

BOTTOM PLAYER

POSITION

Closed-guard bottom. May start with a collar tie or wrist grip.

OBJECTIVE

Stay in the armbar system across any position that develops — guard, belly-down, inverted, straight armlock, back take, or baratoplata. If the grip is lost, re-enter from the next available position.

CONSTRAINTS

Stay in the system. Same elevated pace, role rotation, and reset rules.

WIN CONDITION

Force the tap by isolating an arm and extending the elbow line, convert to back control from a failed extension, or sweep to top position and threaten from there.

Progressions

Harder constraint variants from the source. Same game, tighter problem.

  • Finishes only: Only armbar and baratoplata score — back takes and sweeps do not. Forces the practitioner to develop finishing mechanics under full resistance.
  • Position-restricted: Both players start from side control, not guard. Armbar system player must create their first entry from side control (straight armlock or back take from reverse position). Tests the position-agnostic claim of the system.
  • Competitive rounds: Remove scoring and play continuous live rounds with the role-rotate maintained. Competition-equivalent intensity for Advanced practitioners.
