GUARD PLAYER (SINGLE LEG TO YOUR BACK)

POSITION

Standing, you hold a single leg. Lower yourself onto your back without jumping; your partner follows you down. Go live once your hips and back are on the mat.

OBJECTIVE

Complete two tasks: at one point, connect your legs around a hip and capture their ankle; at another point, stand up holding their leg.

CONSTRAINTS

Bring them down by going backwards, not by jumping onto them. Move between feet high (pointed at their hips to connect) and feet low (on the floor to stand up). You need both tasks for the win. Stay in the same role for the 3-minute round.

WIN CONDITION

You have connected your legs around a hip with their ankle captured, and you have stood up holding their leg.

STANDING PLAYER (BROUGHT DOWN)

POSITION

Your leg is held in a single leg; follow your partner down as they go to their back.

OBJECTIVE

Take the back or attack the legs.

CONSTRAINTS

Manage their feet: stop them planting to stand up and stop them connecting to your legs. Use their movement to chase the back (through the knees or elbows) or the legs.

WIN CONDITION

Chest to back held for three seconds, or a lock around both their hips and their ankle or heel.
