Grapplers Collective, Front Headlock Control. 3-5 min rounds.

Problem

Chest pressure and head control mechanics for maintaining front headlock.

Tell the room

Attacker holds the front headlock with chest weight and head control. Defender escapes any way they can. Attacker scores by keeping control for 45 seconds.

Setup

Start in a locked front headlock. Defender on knees and elbows in tight turtle. Attacker alongside with chest heavy on the upper back, chin strap and tricep control.

Score

Hold 45 seconds, or escape.

  • Attacker — keeps front headlock control for 45 seconds
  • Defender — sits out, pulls the elbow, re-shoots, stands, or granby rolls free

Rules

  1. Chest stays glued. If chest contact with the upper back breaks, the defender scores.
  2. One arm always steers the head. Hold a chin strap or head wrap throughout the exchange.
  3. No hands locked around the body. No clasped grips, seatbelt, or body triangle.

Adjust

Easier

Attacker works at 50% resistance and the control window extends to 60 seconds.

Harder

Attacker may finish any arm-in strangle — guillotine, anaconda, D'Arce — and the window drops to 30 seconds.

If it stalls

If the attacker holds still while the defender moves, cue them to follow with the chest, not anchor in place.
