Push to Pull
guard
Grapplers Collective, Push to Pull. 5-6 min rounds.
Problem
Reading distance so a framing foot on the hip or shoulder becomes an attack, and sitting up on a frame when the connection breaks.
Tell the room
The passer keeps changing range. When a framing foot lands on the hip or shoulder, the bottom player attacks it. Attacks and the seated base hold for 3 seconds.
Setup
Start reclined with live frames. Bottom reclined, one foot framing on the passer, hands framing. Passer on knees or feet, moving around the legs.
Score
Hold the attack for 3 seconds.
- Bottom — leg attack from the hip frame, arm attack from the shoulder frame
- Bottom — comes up to a seated base with a foot frame on, or sweeps
- Passer — pins in side control, mount, or north-south
- Passer — body-locks the seated defender flat, or takes the back
Rules
- No pushing off a landed frame. Once the foot is on the hip or shoulder, attack or come up.
- No hand post to sit up. Come up on the foot frame against the passer.
- The passer must change range. Cycle between crashing close and backing out to the edge of connection.
Adjust
Easier
Run the passer at 60-70% with a telegraphed range change, and allow the hand post at first.
Harder
Full speed, an immediate body lock when the defender hesitates, and submissions open for both players.
If it stalls
If the defender keeps pushing a close passer away, freeze the action and ask what they can reach.
