Mount Escape
escapes
Grapplers Collective, Mount Escape. 5-6 min rounds.
Problem
Systematic escape mechanics from mount using frames and bridges.
Tell the room
Top holds mount. Bottom frames first, then bridges, then moves — recovering guard, reversing, or standing up. Top scores by keeping mount for 60 seconds.
Setup
Start flat under mount. Top sits in full mount, hips on hips. Bottom flat on their back, elbows tight, hands on their own chest.
Score
Escape, or hold 60 seconds.
- Bottom — recovers half guard or full guard
- Bottom — reverses to top or stands to neutral
- Top — keeps mount for 60 seconds
Rules
- No submissions. Neither player attacks the neck or the joints.
- Frame before you bridge. Bottom sets a frame before any bridge attempt.
- Mount stays mount. Top may not take the back when the bottom turns.
Adjust
Easier
Extend the hold to 90 seconds, run the top at 70%, and escape toward one designated side only.
Harder
Add submissions for the top, cut the hold to 45 seconds, and drop the frame-before-bridge rule.
If it stalls
If the bottom frames but never bridges, require an escape attempt every 20 seconds or the top scores.
