Single Leg to Back
takedowns
Grapplers Collective, Single Leg to Back. 3-5 min rounds.
Problem
Converting a deep single leg into a back-take instead of a forward finish.
Tell the room
Hold the deep single and finish from behind the defender, never in front. Defender strips the grip and gets back to neutral. Once behind the shoulder line, lift the free foot for 1 second or force the hands down.
Setup
Start in a deep single leg. The defender's near leg is captured high, trapped between the attacker's legs, hands clasped above the knee. Defender stands on the free leg.
Score
Finish from behind the shoulder line.
- Attacker — get chest behind the shoulder line, switching grips as needed
- Attacker — from there, lift the free foot 1 second or force the hands down
- Defender — strip the hands off the leg and reach neutral with no leg contact
Rules
- No forward finishes. Running the pipe, dumping forward, and lifting in front do not score.
- Climb the connection. Morph the single into a body lock or seatbelt; full separation scores for the defender.
- No submissions or slams. The defender counters with turn-ins, hip switches, and hand-fighting.
Adjust
Easier
Chest behind the shoulder line for 3 seconds scores, with no lift or hands-to-mat.
Harder
Require the back-take to land in a rear body lock or seatbelt held for 3 seconds.
If it stalls
If the attacker keeps finishing forward, ask "where is their back right now?" and have them point to it.
