Rear Body Lock Finish
takedowns
Grapplers Collective, Rear Body Lock Finish. 3-5 min rounds.
Problem
Active conversion of a rear body lock into a lift or breakdown using movement, knee blocks, and base disruption.
Tell the room
Keep the body lock and move the defender's base until the takedown falls out. Defender breaks the grip and turns in. Score by lifting the feet for 1 second or forcing the defender's hands to the mat.
Setup
Start in a standing rear body lock. Attacker behind with hands clasped at hip-bone level, chest on the back. Defender square, feet down, hands free to attack the lock.
Score
Lift or break the base.
- Attacker — lift the defender's feet off the mat for 1 second
- Attacker — force the defender's hands to the mat through base disruption
- Defender — break the hand grip, then turn in chest-to-chest or separate to neutral
Rules
- Hands never break. If the grip breaks before a score, the round goes to the defender.
- Keep the base moving. Five seconds without stepping, off-balancing, or knee-blocking scores for the defender.
- Lift with the hips. Bending back and arm-curling the defender does not score.
Adjust
Easier
Drop the lift and let hands-to-mat alone score.
Harder
Require a controlled mat return for the breakdown win and shorten the movement clock to 3 seconds.
If it stalls
If the attacker stands and squeezes, have them pick a direction every 2 seconds and walk the defender there.
