Guillotine and Anaconda
pins
Grapplers Collective, Guillotine and Anaconda. 3-5 min rounds.
Problem
Finishing the broken-down front headlock with a guillotine variant or anaconda, with the hips covered to block the roll.
Tell the room
Attacker has a front headlock on a broken-down partner. Close a guillotine or anaconda with your hip pressed against their choking-side shoulder. Three seconds of strangle pressure, or a tap, scores.
Setup
Start in the front headlock. Defender on elbows and knees, head low, arms framing. Attacker over the near shoulder, arm around head and armpit, hands locked.
Score
Hold the strangle for 3 seconds.
- Attacker — naked guillotine, arm-in guillotine, or anaconda with the hips covering
- Defender — pulls the head free forward, sideways, or under, without giving the back
- Defender — gets the back flat with no strangle threat, or reaches top
Rules
- Cover the roll lane. The near hip presses the choking-side shoulder when the strangle scores.
- Keep the headlock. Releasing the head wrap to chase another position gives the defender the round.
- No guard pulls. A defender who sits to closed guard gives the attacker the round.
Adjust
Easier
Score the strangle without the hip cover. The defender's roll-out becomes a live escape route again.
Harder
Put a 45-second clock on each exchange. If nobody scores, the point goes to the defender.
If it stalls
If the attacker keeps getting rolled through, cue: "Sit on their shoulder before you pull the grip."
