Grapplers Collective, Earn the Straight Jacket. 5-6 min rounds.

Problem

Trading the seatbelt clasp for arm control without giving up the back.

Tell the room

Attacker starts clasped with hooks in and lets go to build the straight jacket. Hands are clasped or on the arms, never both. Three seconds of straight jacket scores. Defender wins by turning in or getting their back flat.

Setup

Start in full back control. Attacker behind with the seatbelt clasped and both hooks in. Defender upright, both hands on the choking arm's wrist.

Score

The straight jacket, three seconds.

  • Attacker — one arm over the shoulder, one under the far armpit, a defender arm trapped
  • Defender — turns fully chest to chest, on top or bottom
  • Defender — gets their back flat with the attacker displaced

Rules

  1. Clasped or hunting, never both. Hands are joined, or they are on the arms. Switching is free.
  2. No submissions. The control is the score.
  3. No guard pulls. Defender scores by turning to face or going back flat.

Adjust

Easier

Any one defender arm controlled counts, without the full configuration.

Harder

The attacker may clasp only twice in a round, so returning to the seatbelt has a limit.

If it stalls

If the attacker unclasps and gets turned immediately, ask which shoulder their chest is on.
