Arm Trap Without Hooks
pins
Grapplers Collective, Arm Trap Without Hooks. 3-5 min rounds.
Problem
Finishing from a no-hooks seatbelt by getting hands on the defender's arms and trapping one with the legs.
Tell the room
Attacker has a seatbelt and no hooks. Hunt the defender's hands, trap one arm with your legs, and finish the strangle from there. Three seconds of strangle pressure, or a tap, scores.
Setup
Start from a no-hooks seatbelt. Defender on their side or back. Attacker chest-to-back with the seatbelt clasped, legs off the defender and free on the mat.
Score
Hold the strangle for 3 seconds.
- Attacker — legs trap one arm while a figure-4 or leg strangle closes
- Defender — turns fully chest-to-chest with the attacker
- Defender — gets the back flat with the attacker displaced from behind
Rules
- No hooks, ever. The attacker's legs never hook the thighs or wrap the hips.
- Legs own the arm. A defender arm must be leg-trapped when the strangle closes.
- No guard pulls. The defender scores by turning to face or going back-flat.
Adjust
Easier
Drop the strangle. Score the leg-arm trap itself, seatbelt still locked, held for 5 seconds.
Harder
Let the defender attack any submission from the bottom — kimura on the seatbelt arm, leg attacks.
If it stalls
If the attacker keeps reloading hooks, cue: "Grab their hand first." The free hand is the entry to the trap.
