TOP PLAYER
POSITION
Pinching both of the seated player's knees together and driving them toward the ceiling.
OBJECTIVE
Pinch both knees together, point them at the ceiling, and pass. Any pin held three seconds scores.
CONSTRAINTS
Knees together, pointed up. If they split or roll off vertical, the top re-pinches before advancing. Roll them to a shoulder. Drive the seated player over a shoulder, never back onto the neck. Reset when the top player holds any pin for three seconds, when the bottom player rebuilds any guard between their hips and the top, or when the bottom player stands to both feet or reverses to top. 5-6 min rounds.
WIN CONDITION
Any pin held three seconds.
BOTTOM PLAYER
POSITION
Sitting on their seat, hands posted behind, knees pinched high.
OBJECTIVE
Rebuild guard, stand, or reverse.
CONSTRAINTS
Same knees-together, roll-to-a-shoulder, and named reset rules. 5-6 min rounds.
WIN CONDITION
Rebuild any guard between their hips and the top, stand to both feet, or reverse to top.
Grapplers Collective, Rugby Pass. 5-6 min rounds.
Problem
Passing from a knee pinch to a pin while two free arms fight back.
Tell the room
Top pinches both knees together, points them at the ceiling, and passes. Bottom rebuilds guard, stands, or reverses. Any pin held three seconds scores.
Setup
Start with the knees pinched high. Bottom sits on their seat, hands posted behind. Top pinches both knees together and drives them toward the ceiling.
Score
A pin, a guard, or standing.
- Top — any pin held three seconds
- Bottom — rebuilds any guard between their hips and the top
- Bottom — stands to both feet, or reverses to top
Rules
- Knees together, pointed up. If they split or roll off vertical, the top re-pinches before advancing.
- Roll them to a shoulder. Drive the seated player over a shoulder, never back onto the neck.
Adjust
Easier
Bottom bases on one arm only, so the top gets a cleaner look at the far side.
Harder
Bottom may grip the top's legs and wrestle up, so a failed pass can cost the top their base.
If it stalls
If the top squeezes and goes nowhere, ask which arm they are passing toward and make them commit to a side.
