Grapplers Collective, Catch the Knee Cross. 4-5 min rounds.

Problem

Rebuilding the shell in the window when a passer moves from side control to mount, instead of waiting for the position to lock.

Tell the room

Passer starts in locked side control and climbs to mount. Bottom uses the moment the knee comes across to rebuild the shell and re-face. Every scoring position holds for 3 seconds.

Setup

Start in locked side control. Passer has the crossface, an underhook or chest pin, and the near arm isolated. Bottom is flat with the near knee blocked.

Score

Hold the position 3 seconds.

  • Passer — settles mount with both knees in and the shoulders flat
  • Passer — re-consolidates side control when the recovery stalls
  • Bottom — rebuilds the shell, knee and elbow connected, chest cleared
  • Bottom — gets a knee or foot frame in front, or comes up to neutral

Rules

  1. The passer must move. Commit to the mount climb on a set count; no camping.
  2. No bridge-and-roll. Bottom recovers to the shell, on their side, facing the passer.
  3. Control stays on. Passer keeps the crossface and isolated arm, and never lets go to re-grip.

Adjust

Easier

Start the passer halfway across with the knee lifting, at 60-70%, so the bottom feels the timing first.

Harder

Let the passer choose mount or a circle to the back off the same control.

If it stalls

If the bottom keeps getting mounted, have the passer call the moment they commit to the knee.
