DLR/RDLR Off-Balance
guard
Grapplers Collective, DLR/RDLR Off-Balance. 3-5 min rounds.
Problem
Angular leverage and timing for destabilizing standing opponents using hook guards.
Tell the room
Bottom keeps a DLR or RDLR hook on the lead leg and off-balances the standing player. Top stays on their feet. A hand or butt on the mat scores for the bottom.
Setup
Set a DLR or RDLR hook. Bottom supine, one hook on the top player's lead leg, same-side hand on the ankle, free hand on a far-side grip. Top stands.
Score
Hand or butt to the mat.
- Bottom — the top player's hand or butt touches the mat
- Top — finishes the round on their feet without going down
Rules
- Top stays standing. No dropping to the knees to kill the hook.
- Keep one hook attached. The bottom always keeps at least one hook on the lead leg.
- No submissions. Both players stay with the balance problem.
Adjust
Easier
Top cannot clear hooks or strip grips — pure balance survival.
Harder
Top clears hooks and scores for full separation; bottom moves freely between DLR, RDLR, X-guard, and single-leg X.
If it stalls
If the bottom keeps pulling with the arms, hold them to one hook type for the round so the lever does the work.
