Rugby Pass
passing
Grapplers Collective, Rugby Pass. 5-6 min rounds.
Problem
Passing from a knee pinch to a pin while two free arms fight back.
Tell the room
Top pinches both knees together, points them at the ceiling, and passes. Bottom rebuilds guard, stands, or reverses. Any pin held three seconds scores.
Setup
Start with the knees pinched high. Bottom sits on their seat, hands posted behind. Top pinches both knees together and drives them toward the ceiling.
Score
A pin, a guard, or standing.
- Top — any pin held three seconds
- Bottom — rebuilds any guard between their hips and the top
- Bottom — stands to both feet, or reverses to top
Rules
- Knees together, pointed up. If they split or roll off vertical, the top re-pinches before advancing.
- Roll them to a shoulder. Drive the seated player over a shoulder, never back onto the neck.
Adjust
Easier
Bottom bases on one arm only, so the top gets a cleaner look at the far side.
Harder
Bottom may grip the top's legs and wrestle up, so a failed pass can cost the top their base.
If it stalls
If the top squeezes and goes nowhere, ask which arm they are passing toward and make them commit to a side.
