TOP PLAYER (ATTACKER)
POSITION
Both players face each other at engagement distance inside 3m × 3m. Hands free, feet active, no grips.
OBJECTIVE
Score by getting under the hands onto both legs, or by snapping the defender's hands to the mat.
CONSTRAINTS
Stop at the leg attachment. No takedown finish past torso-on-hips with both legs caught. Collar ties to crown or front only. Never to the side of the head. Defender stays on their feet. Pulling guard or sitting gives the point to the attacker. Reset when the attacker ducks under and attaches to both legs with the torso connected; when the attacker forces the defender's hands to the mat while the defender is still standing; or when the defender pulls guard or sits. 3-5 min rounds.
WIN CONDITION
Ducks under and attaches to both legs, torso connected; or forces the defender's hands to the mat, defender still standing.
BOTTOM PLAYER (DEFENDER)
POSITION

OBJECTIVE

CONSTRAINTS
Same stop-at-the-leg-attachment, collar-tie, stay-on-the-feet, and named reset rules. 3-5 min rounds.
WIN CONDITION

Grapplers Collective, Change Levels. 3-5 min rounds.
Problem
Choosing between shooting under the hands to attach the legs and snapping the hands to the mat from standing.
Tell the room
Attacker scores by getting under the hands onto both legs, or by snapping the defender's hands to the mat. The defender scores by staying on both feet.
Setup
Start standing and disconnected. Both players face each other at engagement distance inside 3m × 3m. Hands free, feet active, no grips.
Score
Two paths for the attacker.
- Attacker — ducks under and attaches to both legs, torso connected
- Attacker — forces the defender's hands to the mat, defender still standing
- Defender — finishes the round upright, inside the area, hands above the waist
Rules
- Stop at the leg attachment. No takedown finish past torso-on-hips with both legs caught.
- Collar ties to crown or front only. Never to the side of the head.
- Defender stays on their feet. Pulling guard or sitting gives the point to the attacker.
Adjust
Easier
Remove the snap-to-mat path. The attacker only scores by attaching to both legs.
Harder
The attacker must score within 20 seconds or the point goes to the defender.
If it stalls
If athletes stay in extended hand fighting with no level change, cue: “See the belt, change levels. Can't see it, snap the head.”
