TOP PLAYER (ATTACKER)
POSITION
Attacker at the near hip, both arms round the waist, hands clasped, chest on the side.
OBJECTIVE
Attacker starts with a rear waist hug on a turtled partner. Climb the clasped grip to a seatbelt and trap the head between your arm and your own head. Hold the full sandwich for 2 seconds.
CONSTRAINTS
Never release the clasp. Hands stay locked from waist hug until the seatbelt is set. Sandwich before submissions. Strangles and joint attacks score nothing until the sandwich is locked. Escape, do not survive. Defender scores only by reaching standing and facing the attacker. Reset when the attacker holds the sandwich — seatbelt locked, chest to back, head trapped between arm and head — for 2 seconds; or when the defender breaks free and stands facing the attacker with no contact. 3-5 min rounds.
WIN CONDITION
Seatbelt locked, chest to back, head trapped between arm and head, held 2 seconds.
BOTTOM PLAYER (DEFENDER)
POSITION
Defender in turtle on hands and knees.
OBJECTIVE
Escape, do not survive. Defender scores only by reaching standing and facing the attacker.
CONSTRAINTS
Same never-release-the-clasp, sandwich-before-submissions, escape-do-not-survive, and named reset rules. 3-5 min rounds.
WIN CONDITION
Breaks free and stands facing the attacker with no contact.
Grapplers Collective, Turtle Sandwich. 3-5 min rounds.
Problem
Climbing from a rear waist-hug on a turtled partner into a seatbelt sandwich with the head trapped between own arm and own head.
Tell the room
Attacker starts with a rear waist hug on a turtled partner. Climb the clasped grip to a seatbelt and trap the head between your arm and your own head. Hold the full sandwich for 2 seconds.
Setup
Start in a rear waist hug. Defender in turtle on hands and knees. Attacker at the near hip, both arms round the waist, hands clasped, chest on the side.
Score
Hold the sandwich for 2 seconds.
- Attacker — seatbelt locked, chest to back, head trapped between arm and head
- Defender — breaks free and stands facing the attacker with no contact
Rules
- Never release the clasp. Hands stay locked from waist hug until the seatbelt is set.
- Sandwich before submissions. Strangles and joint attacks score nothing until the sandwich is locked.
- Escape, do not survive. Defender scores only by reaching standing and facing the attacker.
Adjust
Easier
Drop the head trap. The seatbelt grip alone, established and held for 3 seconds, scores.
Harder
Hold the sandwich for 5 seconds with at least one hook inside a defender hip.
If it stalls
If the attacker slides the grip instead of trading hands, cue: "Walk the grip." One hand commits before the other moves.
