InGrappling, Guard Armbar — Achieve the Finish Position.

Problem

Kneeling inside closed guard.

Tell the room

Keep posture and both arms connected to base so neither arm gets isolated, or escape closed guard clean. Break posture, hip out, swing the legs over, and lock the armbar finish geometry.

Setup

Kneeling inside closed guard. Supine closed guard, legs locked around the waist.

Score

Maintain upright posture with both arms connected to base for the full round, or escape closed guard without conceding an arm or the neck. Isolate the far arm and control the elbow line — both legs over the partner's body, wrist controlled, elbow beside the hip — held three consecutive seconds.

Rules

  1. No submission force from bottom.
  2. Reset on a three-second finish-position hold, a clean guard escape without conceding arm or neck, or a tap.
  3. Play five rounds per side, then switch.
  4. Default rounds 3:00.
  5. Hold the position — do not extend the hips aggressively for the break.
  6. Three-second hold starts when both legs are over and the wrist is gripped.
  7. Elbow must sit beside the hip, not floating.
